GAIN’s purpose is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition. In particular, we aim to improve the consumption of safe and nutritious foods for—at a minimum—1 billion people over the next five years and target major improvements to food systems, resulting in more diverse and healthier diets for vulnerable people in countries where we work. GAIN Kenya has been operational in the country since 2010 and has received funding to continue and upscale its country programs at least until 2020.
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is searching for a Senior Programme Assistant to support them in the delivery of an exciting, high impact biofortified crops programme.
GAIN is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 700 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children.
In May 2018, GAIN and HarvestPlus announced a partnership to accelerate progress in improving access to essential vitamins and minerals for vulnerable people, through the commercialization of biofortified crops. GAIN and HarvestPlus share an ambition to expand coverage of biofortified nutrient dense foods to at least 200 million consumers by 2022. The focus will be on biofortified varieties of six highly promising crops, developed by HarvestPlus and its partners.
Based in Kenya, The Senior Program Assistant will provide administrative support for the GAIN and HarvestPlus Commercializing Biofortified Foods Program. They will play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the programme, with key responsibilities including;
Support to program service providers to track the submission of deliverables against executed contracts.
Processing of payments to consultants and other service providers
Ensuring all program related expenses are properly coded to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
Assist the Senior Program Manager in the development of documentation relating to budgets, cost analyses, reports and forecasting.
Other duties as required by the Senior Program Manager.
We are looking for a candidate who has strong experience in an administrative role, preferably with an international NGO working in agriculture and nutrition. Demonstrated excellence in written/verbal communications is a must, along with a solid background in research, writing, and analytical ability. A flexible approach to working will be necessary as there will be some out of hours commitments. More Information
