IntroductionThe Area Manager position exists at the Polokwane Area Office and will manage a number of insurance offices around the region. The incumbent will report to the Provincial manager and will be responsible to ensure the management of the area, branch and district offices in order to achieve business objectivesSpecificationPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:*Manage and direct Insurance business within the area*Ensure the development and expansion of markets*Perform market research within the area*Support marketing initiatives*Negotiate with prospective and existing clients and groups*Liaising with all relevant stakeholders*Managing and controlling performance areas of subordinates*Responsible for the development of staff*Provide regular feedback on all production activities*Ensure area targets are achievedRequirementsREQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:*Comply with FAIS legislation for registration as Fit and Proper individuals:*Applicants who entered the industry as follows:From years 2004 – 2007 requires 30 credits on NQF 4 obtained by 31 December 2009.From years 2008 – 2009 requires 30 credits or 60 credits on NQF 4 obtained by 31 December 2011 or full FAIS recognised qualification obtained by 31 December 2013All those appointed in the industry from the year 2010 onwards require a full FAIS recognised qualification*Clear ITC*Clear criminal record*Be in possession of a tertiary qualification in marketing or sales*RE 1*Be in possession of a valid drivers’ license*Be willing to travelEXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:*Your knowledge and management experience in Life Assurance of at least five years will equip you to manage a team of District Managers and Sales RepresentativesSKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:*Be a good communicator and negotiator.
